Enjoy the fruits of your labor…
Lunasa or Lughnasadh (loo-nah-sah) is a Celtic Harvest Festival in honor of the ancient sun god Lugh. Lunasa was not only a time to bless the fruits of harvest, it was also a time for laughter, dancing and the celebration of life. At Lunasa we honor these traditions and invite you to celebrate them with us.
Lunasa is a modern, contemporary Irish Pub located in the famed bohemian East Village neighborhood of NYC. The name translates to August in Gaelic and that was the month we opened our doors in 2003.
“Much as Americans might like to believe that every pub in Ireland is musty, dark and ancient.... the Irish theme is minimalist: the copper and bronze tones and soft lighting recall Ireland at summer harvest time” - NY Times
“We thought we knew what to expect from an Irish bar. Then we got a gander at Lunasa and saw the future of Celtic Pubs” - Time Out NY
“Lunasa in the East Village is a beautiful space that reflects the sophistication and cosmopolitan cool of contemporary Ireland without losing any of the traditional charm and hospitality for which the Irish are famed” - NYC Pulse
